There are a lot of games that can be played at your wedding. The ones that you pick (or your wedding party picks) will depend on how tame or wild you want your wedding to be. Please feel free to suggest your favorite games! Even if they are similar to the ones listed, readers would love to read about all the variations as well.
This is a tradition that is mostly followed by Chinese couples. When the groom picks up the bride in the morning, she is usually in her room with her bridesmaids and other close girlfriends. In order for the groom to get in the door and see his bride for the first time, he has to satisfy the bridesmaids' requests. They can make him do anything and at the very end, will negotiate an "open door lai see", an amount of money they want in a red envelope. Since "9" is such a lucky number in Chinese (sounds like "forever"), bridesmaids will ask for $99999. =) Of course, that's not reasonable, so eventually, they accept some amount in the red envelope, which is usually a nominal amount. Here are few things the bridesmaids might ask the groom and his groomsmen to do:
Hands please
Feel the hands coming out of the room one at a time until he finds the bride. This is my favorite one for playing last because once he gets it correct, he can bring her right out.
Love songs
Have someone sing a few lines from a love song
Pushups
Pick a reasonably difficult number of pushups for the groom/groomsmen to do.
Questions
Answer a few questions about the bride ie. What's her favorite color?
While there will probably be karaoke and dancing at the banquet, make your wedding banquet memorable with some interactive games played by the wedding couple or your guests. Give your guests an opportunity to learn more about you and each other, or simply just to have a good laugh. =)
Couples Kiss First
Most people bang their chopsticks on their plates when they want the wedding couple to kiss. But in this version, each time this happens, the wedding couple picks a name of a couple at random and they have to kiss first. Then the couple has to kiss in the same way.
Find the Bride's Hands
The groom is blindfolded and one-by-one guests will go up to the groom and let him touch their hands. The groom has to pick which one is his bride. Usually, men, as well as women, will go up. This usually gets the crowd laughing, no matter what language they understand.
Follow that Kiss
Pick from your guests a couple that would like to participate. Just ask them beforehand to make sure they are okay with it. Ask them to act out a short scene involving a kiss and then the bride and groom would have to do the same thing.
Guess who is the bride.
Cover the groom's eyes with a scarf or something. Ask a few guests to kiss the groom and have to groom to guess which one is the bride.
How many kisses?
How much love can you hold with your palm? Find out with this simple game. You only need a basket of Hershey's Kisses and then ask each table to write down how many kisses the bridesmaid and groomsman can grab with their hands. The table with the closest guess wins the basket of Hershey’s Kisses.
Phone call from the pants
The bride has to move a cell phone from inside one pant leg to the other pant leg of the groom's pants. She has to do this without dropping it at any point. Some people will call the cell phone when she's reached the top of the pants just for fun.
Question Game
This will involve the bride and groom with their backs to each other. The moderator will ask them questions and they will respond by writing on their own dry erase board. Afterward, they will show the answer to everyone and each other. It could be fun questions like: What would be the groom's dream car?, Who snores the loudest?, Who is the better cook? If you want to involve more people, this question can also be played by the bridesmaids and groomsmen instead. This game is fun and interactive and gives guests an opportunity to learn more about the couple.
Questions for Kisses
Instead of making noise with their chopsticks and plates, each time guests want the couple to kiss, they have to ask them a question. Then the bride and groom will answer the question before kissing. This game will allow guests to learn more about the couple.
